Say I am interested in a certain weekly audio book which is regularly updated by the uploader ...

is it possible to set a notification so that I receive a reminder when a new update is posted ???

Does the Web Directory/Folder where the Audiobook is located have a Watch function? If so, you may activate/click on the Watch function and it will automatically send you Email Notifications whenever an update is made on that Web Directory/Folder.

Now, if the Web Directory/Folder where the Audiobook is located does not have a Watch function, what you can do is look for utility programs that will monitor/watch that Web Directory/Folder and will automatically send you Email Notifications whenever an update is made on that Web Directory/Folder.

One such program that you might be interested in looking for/trying is Directory Monitor Pro 2.15.0.5 Multilingual which is available here. There's also Vovsoft 1.2, also available here.

I do not know for a fact though if they will accept Web Directories/Folders as parameters. But I'm willing to bet that such a program exists.

Yes, I sensed that that was what you were looking for; I mean, I kind of surmised that the weekly audio book was/is not produced by you, so what you are/were looking for is a utility program that can sort of "watch" the web directory/folder where those audio books were being stored.

And the product(s) that I had mentioned earlier probably didn't accept web directories/folders as parameters (i.e., they accepted only your own computer's directories/folders).

But what I am claiming is that such software that you are looking for already exists. My memory is hazy, but I think I had come across such program(s); for the life of me, I just can't recall its/their name(s) 😅

Maybe some variant of the [Login to see the link]? The basic idea is, you give the extension a page URL, the extension saves a snapshot of the page then reloads the page every so often and looks for changes. When one of your pages changes it pops up an alert. Maybe you give it a CSS or XPath selector so that it only checks part of the page. You get the idea.

One variation uses the browser extension to ping the pages but can send a SMS or email so you're notified of changes on your phone. Another uses the browser extension to set the page content you want to monitor but the actual monitoring is performed in the cloud so you can shut down your computer and still get change notifications.

I don't use them myself so I can't advise you, but at least you know what you're looking for. Maybe google "monitor website changes" to see what services are available, and at what cost.

It's mostly used by people working with Servers and the like; I did have one such friend in that company which I used to work for, and I recall him mentioning it.
